Las primeras vistas paisajísticas de Écija en el siglo XVI

Abstract

Se presentan aquí las dos primeras vistas paisajísticas de Écija, tomadas en el año 1567 desde el camino hacia Córdoba, con el río y el puente en primer plano, con su conjunto urbano como protagonista y el paisaje circundante al fondo. En la Biblioteca Nacional de Viena se conserva un inédito dibujo preparatorio del grabado firmado por Hoefnagel y publicado en el Civitatis Orbis Terrarum en 1572, con enorme difusión por Europa. Y el otro dibujo, apenas conocido, de Anton van den Wyngaerde, se conserva en el Museo Plantin de Amberes. Además, como antecedente se citan algunas representaciones simbólicas de Écija hasta fines del siglo XVI. Dichas vistas de Hoefnagel y Wyngaerde no son imaginarias, sino que muestran el singular conjunto urbano de Écija con numerosos detalles que concuerdan con la realidad de aquel momento cercano a tiempos islámicos. Permiten comprender mejor su bella configuración paisajística, uno de los preciados patrimonios que la ciudad ha heredado y que le confieren una potente identidad propia. En un futuro próximo se pretende ampliar este estudio en una publicación que se prepara con vistas y planos de Écija hasta el siglo XIX.

We present here the two first landscape views of Écija taken in 1567 from the path to Córdoba, with the river and the bridge in the foreground as well as its urban complex and the surrounding landscape in the background. In the Vienna National Library it is kept an unpublished preparatory drawing for an engraving signed by Hoefnagel and published in Civitatis Orbis Terrarum in 1572 with an enormous spreading in Europe. There is other drawing hardly known which author is Anton van den Wyngaerde that is kept in Plantin Museum of Antwerp. Furthermore, as a precedent there are some symbolic representations of Écija mentioned ultil the end of XVI century. Those views by Hoefnagel and Wyngaerde are not imaginary, in fact they show the peculiar urban complex of Écija with a great number of details which match with the real city in that moment close to the Islamic period. They let us understand in a better way its beautiful landscape configuration, one of the heritages that the city have and which gives a powerful own identity. In a near future it is aimed to extend that study in a publication that is being prepared including views and street plans of Écija until XIX century.
