En la última década el movimiento copyleft ha traspasado las fronteras del software informático hasta el punto de que se ha aplicado también a la distribución de la literatura científica, un modelo que históricamente ha estado bajo el monopolio de las grandes editoriales y que ahora se muestra insostenible económicamente. La penetración del copyleft en el conocimiento científico ha transformado –y sigue transformando– el mundo de las revistas académicas y lo ha hecho fundamentalmente a partir de dos fenómenos complementarios: el open access, que es la iniciativa que ha cobrado mayor relevancia, y las licencias creative commons. Una buena muestra de esta transformación es el Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ), que permite trazar la progresiva incorporación de las revistas científicas al acceso abierto y a esta nueva concepción de los derechos de autor, por ejemplo, en España o en el ámbito de las Ciencias Sociales. Una de esas publicaciones integradas en el DOAJ, de acceso abierto y con licencia creative commons, es IC: Revista de Información y Comunicación, editada por el departamento de Periodismo 1 de la Universidad de Sevilla. |
