Abstract | Cada vez es mayor el desafío al que se enfrentan los investigadores, ya que cada vez son
mayores los requerimientos exigidos por el ámbito de la salud: Nuevas enfermedades,
resistencia a fármacos, enfermedades conocidas, ... Cada vez es mayor el desafío al que se enfrentan los investigadores, ya que cada vez son mayores los requerimientos exigidos por el ámbito de la salud: Nuevas enfermedades, resistencia a fármacos, enfermedades conocidas, pero sin tratamiento o con un tratamiento ineficaz, exigencia de nuevas técnicas de diagnóstico y exploración… El descubrimiento y desarrollo de fármacos es un proceso costoso, complejo y prolongado en el tiempo. Cada fármaco debe ser sometido a diferentes pruebas que pongan de manifiesto su seguridad y eficacia, así como los requerimientos fisicoquímicos y bioquímicos que deben superar. La inteligencia artificial (IA) ha supuesto un gran avance dentro de este ámbito, ya que, gracias a los sistemas de redes neuronales, diseñados por los investigadores y los algoritmos de alta complejidad que integra esta tecnología, se han obtenido datos claros y fiables acerca de nuevas moléculas, con un menor costo de producción y en un menor tiempo. Asimismo, la IA ha permitido la optimización de todos los procesos necesarios en la síntesis orgánica, lo que conlleva a obtener un rendimiento mucho más elevado en comparación con los procesos que hasta ahora se realizaban de forma manual. El diseño de nuevas moléculas utilizando el conocimiento, además de la metodología que nos ofrece esta disciplina, ha supuesto un gran avance para la ciencia. Los avances en la IA, un sistema capaz de “suplantar” la inteligencia humana, nos brindan una excelente oportunidad para el desarrollo de la química orgánica, lo que conllevará a un gran avance de múltiples disciplinas. En la actualidad, este campo está en dinámica evolución. El diseño de un sistema basado en la inteligencia humana, infalible y aplicable a múltiples situaciones, sin importar la complejidad, es un enorme esfuerzo que conlleva una gran inversión tanto en tiempo como en capital, sin embargo, la transformación que ha sufrido a lo largo del tiempo es colosal. |
