Autismo, arquitectura y memoria en la ciudad. En su propio tiempo y espacio

Abstract

Nuestros planos y mapas de ciudad habitualmente se han limitado a poner de manifiesto intereses particulares o a plasmar torpemente el territorio en un papel. Entre estas representaciones y la realidad se abre un abismo insalvable y misterioso que no deja ver otras vidas y construcciones allí presentes. Las experiencias urbanas a través de los sentidos y la información que hay en nuestra memoria, que transforma estas sensaciones en propias, ha sido una de las herramientas que hemos usado para intentar comprender mejor estos mundos no visibles. Sin embargo, la forma de entender la vida y las tecnologías, han hecho que este interés se disipe en el tiempo: hemos pasado de ser paseantes curiosos guiados por nuestras propias experiencias a formar parte de un rebaño conducido por las redes sociales o las prisas del modo de vida actual. Las personas con autismo tienen una sensibilidad y concepción del espacio distinta, algo que junto su capacidad de inmersión puede ayudarnos a entender estos aspectos propios que muy difícilmente representamos, pero están ahí y afectan a la experiencia del individuo. El presente documento no pretende poner solución técnica a los problemas que sufren las personas con Trastorno del Espectro Autista (TEA) en la ciudad, pone en valor la capacidad de entender la ciudad de una forma diferente.

Our city plans and maps have usually been limited to revealing particular interests or clumsily capturing the territory on paper. Between these representations and reality there is an insurmountable and mysterious abyss that does not allow us to see other lives and constructions present there. Urban experiences through the senses and the information that is in our memory, which transforms these sensations into our own, has been one of the tools that we have used to try to better understand these invisible worlds. However, the way of understanding life and technologies have made this interest dissipate over time: we have gone from being curious walkers guided by our own experiences to being part of a herd driven by social networks or the rush of the world royal way of life. People with autism have a different sensitivity and conception of space, something that, together with their immersion capacity, can help us understand these own aspects that we hardly represent, but they are there and evolve with the individual’s experience. This document does not intend to provide a technical solution to the problems suffered by people with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) in the city, it values the ability to understand the city in a different way.
