Sports content is becoming increasingly common on digital platforms such as YouTube or Twitch, the latter the latter with increasing growth since the COVID-19 pandemic. Society is witnessing a new way of communicating through new media, far from traditional media such as television or radio, in which it is not necessary to be a journalist, but rather a content creator. These scenarios have managed to reach the viewer in a dynamic, fast and simple way. The way journalism is done on these platforms is forcing the conventional media to immerse themselves in this new world so as not to be left behind and continue to attract consumers. Thus, journalists and content creators compete on a daily basis with the aim of having the highest number of visits and subscribers on their channels. There are cases such as those of the COPE channel, which now tune the radio signal to YouTube and Twitch, also offering to listen to the live narration of the matches in these spaces, as well as some programmes and interviews (including the video signal as well as the audio signal). El Partidazo de COPE stands out on YouTube, hosted by Juanma Castaño, which has been well received by users. The objective of this Final Degree Project is to provide an insight into the new window that is opening up for sports journalism, especially football, on the YouTube and Twitch platforms and to find out about the main content creators. Through bibliographic search, analysis and interviews with experts I have accessed relevant data for the study, as well as the journalistic practice in these media and the opinion of the aforementioned experts. |
