The concept of creative cities originates in a context of changing paradigms where from the middle of the twentieth century society finds itself in a deep economic transformation, going from being industrial to being a society producing services and knowledge. In addition to this, advances in technology and globalization have emerged as factors that have promoted these transformations and linked them together, turning contemporary cities into the stage where they are set in motion and observing these changes. Cities, like the whole of society, are experiencing a process of restructuring, especially the spaces formerly linked to manufacturing activity that aim to attract flows, whether of people or capital. From there, initiatives of regeneration of the architecture and its environment arise that put in the center of the processes the human creativity and the socalled creative class. This work arises, therefore, with the aim of investigating the emergence and use of the concept of creative cities in the context of urban transformations that took place in Spain from the end of the last century and at the beginning of the years 2000. |
