Univocité, infinité et transcendance divine chez Marin Mersenne

Abstract

Cet article a pour but principal de déterminer la façon dont le modèle de rationalité mathématique de Marin Mersenne (1588-1648) pourrait conduire nécessairement à l'univocité. Il s’agit de savoir si les humains connaissent-ils, par exemple, le théorème de Pythagore de la même façon que Dieu le fait. Pour répondre à cette question, nous abordons la notion de vérité comme conformitas dans son dédoublement théologique et épistémologique. Ensuite, nous nous concentrons sur le concept des possibles en tant qu’objet des mathématiques et de l’entendement divin. En dernier lieu, nous interpellons la thèse d’une univocité radicale soutenue par Jean-Luc Marion pour finalement exposer nos conclusions.

The aim of this article is to establish if the mathematical rationality of Marin Mersenne (1588-1648) leads necessarily to an univocity. Indeed, can human beings know the Pythagoras theorem in the same manner as God? In order to answer this question, we study the conception of truth as conformitas, considering its ideological and epistemological aspects. Then, we analyse the notion of possibles as the subject matter of mathematics and of the divine intellect. Last but not least, we put into question Jean-Luc Marion’s interpretation or radical univocity. Finally, we expose the results and take a position in this discussion.
