El cortejo fúnebre de Isabel I de Castilla en Granada (1504)

Abstract

Presentamos en este artículo la transcripción y análisis de un documento inédito que describe con detalle la entrada del féretro de Isabel I de Cas-tilla en la ciudad de Granada el 18 de diciembre de 1504. Se trata de una relación anónima que aporta nuevos datos sobre el acontecimiento. En ella se describen los componentes y disposición del cortejo fúnebre, la recepción dispensada por la ciudad y la procesión que se unió a esta comitiva hasta llegar hasta a la plaza del convento de San Francisco, donde la reina había dispuesto ser enterrada.

In this article we present the transcription and analysis of an unpublished document that describes the arrival of the funeral procession of Isa-bella I of Castile to Granada on December 18, 1504. It was written by an anony-mous scribe and provides us with new information about the event. It details the components and order of the entourage escorting the queen’s body, the reception given by the city, and the procession that escorted this cortege to the convent of San Francisco, where the queen had arranged to be buried.
