The main objective of this Final Degree Project is the modelling, from plans, of the Lockheed P-38 Lightning aircraft of the Second World War. The aim is to obtain a digitised replica of the aircraft that guarantees the conservation over time of the plans and all the documentation. As a secondary objective, the learning and deepening with the CATIA V5 R19 environment and the contact with the DMU Kinematics animation module. In order to carry out the above mentioned, a division of the parts of the plane was made to facilitate the modelling. These divisions were the cockpit, the wings, the engines, the propellers, the tail, the horizontal stabiliser and the radiators. Each of these parts has been modelled using mainly the submodules ”Part Design” and ”Wireframe and Surface Design” and using the measurements from the drawings given in the annexes. After modelling all the parts, they were joined together to obtain the assembled model of the P-38. To do this, use was made of the ”Assembly Design” sub-module which allows all these parts to be implemented in a virtual space where restrictions can be added between them, thus allowing the aircraft to be assembled. Finally, the animation of the moving parts of the plane, the propellers, the ailerons and the vertical rudders, was carried out using the ’DMU Kinematics’submodule. |
