In the current project we study the energy efficiency of a peculiar architectural style, developed from the knowledge of engineering and military architecture at the time of the 29th Exhibition in Seville, which presumed a rational way of understanding how to solve social demands in energy, economic and climatic matters of the time. For this an energy efficiency study has been undertaken to enable us to optimize the building by defining a proposed solution to turn it into a positive energy building. We have endeavoured to understand the building through the works of that time and recent ones, analyzing the current state of the building, based on documentation of similar buildings (military pavilions of the time), photographs of the demolition of one of the buildings of the architectural complex, photographs of the rear facade rehabilitation and a study of photographs taken with a thermographic camera. Next an energy audit is carried out with a qualitative and quantitative analysis of the current state of the building, followed by proposals including works for all or part of the envelope (walls, windows and roofs) and the equipment (enthalpy air conditioning, enthalpy heat recovery, heat pump for domestic hot water (DHW) and the use of renewable energy (photovoltaic panels). We have chosen proposals which are most respectful to the way the building functions and those that reduce the demand for heating, mainly to have an impact on the health, comfort and economy of the users. We demonstrate that it is not difficult to make a positive energy building of this style and this era in a profitable and redeemable way in the short or medium term. |
