The decrease in bone height in the posterior area of the upper maxilla may be due to the reabsorption of the alveolar ridge due to tooth loss, lack of bone and hyperpneumatization of the maxillary sinus. In these cases, in order to carry out implant placement, we have to use procedures such as sinus lift to achieve the necessary bone height. In the present work, the maxillary sinus lift technique was described, as well as other alternatives for implant treatment in atrophic maxillae, and the different types of bone grafts were also described. The objective of the case was to present the diagnostic, surgical, prosthodontic and maintenance protocol for the treatment of the upper maxilla with the sinus lift procedure in which tricalcium beta-phosphate was used as bone graft. A bibliographic review was carried out with the purpose of highlighting the concepts of sinus lift and bone grafting, as well as comparing the results of the different studies in order to see which procedures can give better results. |
