dc.description.abstract | The academic background of those students who are now enrolled in Vocational and Educational
Training Programs show their previous academic failure, problematic situations developed in
classrooms, several difficulties with their families, disaffection with the educational system, and
either, a lack of interest for knowledge, for learning, and no expectations in life and about
professions. When you talk with these students you can learn about their new experiences in VET
programs, so that they have changed their real life and the way they look to the future. They really have interests and the educational system should give them another opportunity. When they talk
they become critical with the failures of the compulsory secondary education, and we think we
should listen to them. We should better change the focus and instead of despising them because
they came out of the more academic educational system, we should take them into account
because their analysis and their opinions are very valuable to know better how we should have to
improve secondary education. We got the evidences by interviewing boys and girls who are
enrolled in a VET program in a successful way. This paper is about their experiences and beliefs
while they were in the compulsory system because we would like to improve secondary education
listening to their interesting words. | es |
