Haikus de Kobayashi Issa Inéditos al Castellano

Abstract

Kobayashi Issa, considered one of the great three poets of haiku, dedicated most of his life to teaching and composing haiku. This document gives us a brief look at the author’s life as well as a collection of approximately 300 haiku. These have been translated directly to Spanish but also include word-for-word translations to allow the reader to make their own conclusions about the poem’s meaning. As a conclusion to this academic paper, I have gathered some personal thoughts and opinions on where I consider the difficulty of translating haiku lays and some personal interpretations of beautiful haikus written by Issa.
