Sombras. Expresión y percepción del miedo y la ansiedad en el arte

Abstract

El presente trabajo trata de analizar el origen y sobre todo por qué el ser humano encuentra atractivo representar en sus obras artísticas características y escenas de lo más terrible y grotesco de nuestra especie, y como el espectador percibe y empatiza con estos mensajes en la cultura occidental cristianizada. También se explicará cómo funciona un proceso creativo apoyándonos en los trabajos de diferentes artistas, psicólogos y teóricos del arte y usando como cimiento una lista de referentes. Se expondrá de forma muy simplificada como funciona de manera física la ansiedad y el miedo apoyándonos en las tesis y trabajos de diferentes profesionales de la psicología, .También presentaremos una serie de esculturas realizadas por mí que sir- ven como base para este escrito. Al final del trabajo se muestra un pequeño experimento sobre la empatía del observador moderno, apoyado con obras de diferentes épocas que representan escenas de las acciones más despreciables del ser humano.

This project attempts to analyse when and especially why human beings find attractive using art as away of representing the most terrible and grotesque traits and scenes of our specie; how the viewer perceives these messages in our current Christianized occidental culture. We will also explain how the concept of creative process runs and develops observing work from different artists, psychologists, and artistic thinkers, while using a variety of inspiration as a base. The physical way how anxiety and fear works will be unfolded in a simple way. This not only implicates how the viewer beholds art, but also with a series of sculptures I made to strengthen the theory. Finally, an experiment about the empathy a modern viewer can have upon this art is presented, supported by pieces of art that expose the dreadful side of human beings.
