Visualidad y revolución. Una aproximación comparada a la Segunda República Española y la Unidad Popular en Chile

Abstract

El punto de partida de este artículo es la manifestación estética como expresión de un contexto sociocultural más amplio que la condiciona y, simultáneamente, le da sentido. Para ejemplificarlo, se han analizado afiches de Chile y España en dos momentos similares de su historia: la Unidad Popular y la Segunda República respectivamente. En ambos casos, su gráfica reflejó las tendencias artísticas de su tiempo y el protagonista central de los mensajes fue el nuevo ciudadano que la revolución buscaba construir.

The starting point of this article is the aesthetic manifestation as expression of a more ample sociocultural context that simultaneously conditions this aesthetic manifestation while providing sense to it. To exemplify this, posters of Chile and Spain in two similar historical moments have been analyzed: The Popular Unity and the Second Republic respectively. In both cases, their graphics represented the artistic trends and the central protagonist of the messages was the new citizen revolution intended to construct.
