Abstract | Hemos realizado nuestro estudio en el hospital infantil virgen del rocio de sevilla. Practicamos 195 ecografias a una poblacion de 153 niños con edades comprendidas entre 0-611 dias, con el fin de analizar los hallazgos ... Hemos realizado nuestro estudio en el hospital infantil virgen del rocio de sevilla. Practicamos 195 ecografias a una poblacion de 153 niños con edades comprendidas entre 0-611 dias, con el fin de analizar los hallazgos morfologicos ecograficos y los patrones del flujo sanguineo cerebral en niños con meningitis. Tras un riguroso estudio estadistico y el analisis de los resultados, hemos concluido que en las meningitis de evolucion favorable se encuentra una alta incidencia de ecografias cerebrales sin alteraciones relevantes, pero en un 57,14%, aparecen como signos ecograficos: surcos prominentes, ensanchados e hiperecogenicos, tapizado ecogenico ventricular, ligera ventriculomegalia, liquido extra-axial, e hiperecogenicidad de ganglios basales. Hemos denominado a este conjunto de signos, "alteraciones ecograficas menores". En general, se relacionan con la buena evolucion del proceso y pensamos carecen de significado pronostico. La ecografia detecta de una forma bastante precisa las complicaciones morfologicas que aparecen en los niños con meningitis de evolucion no favorable como son: infartos, hidrocefalia, abscesos, atrofia, encefalopatia multiquistica y leucomalacia periventricular. Han sido denominadas por nosotros "alteraciones ecograficas mayores". No encontramos relacion entre la celularidad del liquido cefalorraquideo y los hallazgos ecograficos en las meningitis de evolucion favorable o desfavorable. Tampoco se relaciona con los patrones del flujo sanguineo cerebral. Si existe una relacion directa con la cantidad de proteinas en el liquido cefalorraquideo. En las meningitis de evolucion favorable, las determinaciones del flujo sanguineo cerebral, eran similares a las encontradas en el grupo control de niños neurologicamente normales. |
