Abstract | El mito del Purgatorio, entendido como un lugar sobrenatural en el que los
muertos purgan sus pecados cometidos en vida, está muy presente en gran cantidad de
religiones, especialmente en la cristiana, y ha influido en ... El mito del Purgatorio, entendido como un lugar sobrenatural en el que los muertos purgan sus pecados cometidos en vida, está muy presente en gran cantidad de religiones, especialmente en la cristiana, y ha influido en numerosas corrientes artísticas a lo largo del tiempo. Las narrativas que abordan esta temática poseen una serie de patrones y arquetipos comunes que las identifican con la ya mencionada creencia religiosa a pesar de que se encuentren más o menos alejadas de una visión cristiana ortodoxa. Este trabajo tratará de identificar esos patrones recurrentes en la representación del Purgatorio dentro de la ficción audiovisual moderna y popular, tomando como ejemplos las películas Dead Man (Jim Jarmusch, 1995), In Bruges (Martin McDonagh, 2008) y la serie Over the garden wall (Patrick McHale, 2014), para después señalar sus elementos comunes y relacionarlos con la evolución de la mitología del Purgatorio. |
