Política de vivienda en el primer franquismo: 1936-1949

Abstract

Que apenas veinte días después de finalizada la Guerra se promulgara la nueva ley de vivienda protegida abre vías a una doble reflexión: los debates que el gobierno de Burgos impuso sobre cuál debía ser el futuro de la vivienda y la vivienda social y, a la vista de los resultados, los choques y enfrentamientos que se produjeron entre las familias del Régimen. En un momento en el que la inversión en vivienda protegida fue meramente simbólica (las inversiones se dedicaron, desde una política autárquica, a la reconstrucción de una economía agraria de tipo industrial) lo sucedido en España hasta 1955 no puede liquidarse con la fácil referencia a la «arquitectura de Falange».

The fact that hardly twenty days after the end of the Civil War the new law of protected housing was put into place prompts two types of reflection: the debates that the government in Burgos began about what the future of housing and social housing in particular, and depending on the results, the clashing and confrontations that occurred between the families central to the Regime. At a time when the investment in social housing was merely symbolic (the investments were set aside, according to autarchic politics, to the reconstruction of the rural areas as if they were a type of industry) what happened in Spain since 1955 cannot be reduced to a simple reference to “Falangist architecture”.
