The paper discusses the insufficient role of traditional rationality model in explaining personnel selection decision. These decisions are dependant of several exogenous and endogenous conditions of selection process. We began by describing traditional selection model, and the way positivistic rationality is visible. We proceed by explaining the different challenges to this model. The increasing change in work nature demands new work criteria and different validity research. The bounded rationality framework and individual political agendas also contribute to explain the shift from traditional model. Finally we analyze selection as a socio-cognitive process, subject to tacit or implicit knowledge from more or less broad decision maker experience.
