The article focuses on the analysis of the literary and pictorial treatment of this female figure in the Biblical texts, the popular and hagiographic legends as well as in the works of Heinrich Heine, Titian, John Keats, the pre-Raphaelites, Gustave Flaubert, Théophile Gautier, Gustave Moreau, Joris-Karl Huysmans, Stéphane Mallarmé, Oscar Wilde and Aubrey Beardsley.	es
