In recent years events such as Bagua, which happened in Peru in 2009, have attract the attention of the international community and put the topic of the native problematic on the table. This research tries to shed light on the dynamics which make that situation in the peruvian amazon in the XXI century. The research focus on the study in one of the most important native community in that process, the Awajun. The first part describes the demography evolution and some significant socioeconomic features since independence, analyzing the most representative information provided for INEI's census. All this information allow us to define the social context where the Awajun can develop. The second part analyze the evolution of the peruvian legislation according to the native’s legal capacity until the international confirmation. Finally, we deepen in the integration process that have occurred until make the reality of the contemporary Peru and the role played by the natives.
