In this project, a basic engineering study for a spent fuel pool is done using American technology with a boiling water reactor. The nuclear power plant has 3.237 MWt working with enriched uranium dioxide as fuel. For the central described above, the design of the spent fuel pool and the cooling system where the water is driven has to be done. About the purification system, the description is given and the main calculations are done, without describing the components or the mechanical design. In addition, the heat and mass transfer models are done, in order to analyse the phenomena between water and fuel. By this model, the temperature of the pool water could be knew. Two situations are analysed: firstly, an emergency situation from which the main design could be obtained. Secondly, the base charge situation is also studied. All the following report is leaded by ANSI/ANS-57.7.1988 applicable to the kind of power plant analysed (American Technology).
