Dimorfismo sexual mandibular

Abstract

La identificación del sexo a partir de restos esqueléticos es uno de los principales objetivos de la antropología física, realizándose en base a las diferencias de forma y tamaño de los huesos. La mandíbula es uno de los huesos más resistentes del esqueleto humano y aporta numerosa información permitiendo el estudio del sexo, edad y género entre otros. Con ésta revisión bibliográfica trataremos de aclarar las principales características que nos ayudan a identificar el dimorfismo sexual mandibular con una serie de artículos en los últimos 5 años, realizados mediante estudios radiográficos y muestras a las que se le han realizado pruebas morfométricas entre otras.

The identification of sex from skeletal remains is one of the main objectives of physical anthropology, being realized based on the differences of form and size of the bones. The mandible is one of the most resistant bones of the human skeleton and it provides a lot information allowing the study of sex, age and gender among others. With this literature review we try to clarify the main characteristics that help us to identify the mandibular sexual dimorphsim with a series of articles in the last 5 years, the radiographic studies and the samples are the morphometric tests performed among others.
