Implantes estrechos: uso y tasa de éxito

Abstract

Actualmente la implantología dental es una técnica muy utilizada y aceptada en nuestro entorno. En algunos casos, su uso se ve limitado por diferentes condiciones físicas, como en situaciones con una cresta alveolar reducida o cuando el espacio horizontal se ve limitado por las raíces o los dientes adyacentes. En estas situaciones, al utilizar implantes de diámetro estrecho, se evita la necesidad de realizar otro tipo de tratamiento como el aumento óseo a partir de técnicas de regeneración ósea. En este trabajo se estudia la tasa de éxito y las indicaciones de uso de los implantes estrechos en la actualidad y con respecto a los implantes de diámetro estándar. Se llega a la conclusión de que los implantes estrechos son una buena alternativa en situaciones con escasa disponibilidad ósea y con resultados comparables a los de diámetro estándar, siendo muchas veces la mejor opción de tratamiento.

Currently, dental implants are a widely used and accepted technique around us. In some cases, its use can be limited by different physical conditions, such as the presence of a reduced alveolar crest or a horizontal space limited by the adjacent teeth and roots. In this case, when using implants with a narrow diameter, one can avoid the need of performing any other treatment like an osseous increase through osseous regeneration procedures. This project studies the success rate and the usage instructions of today´s narrow implants, as well as the relationship towards standard diameter implants. The conclusion we arrive to is that narrow implants are a great alternative in situations where bone is scarce, and the results equal those of standardized implants, proving to be the best treatment choice in some cases.
