dc.description.abstractA Monte Carlo investigation of the linear and nonlinear relaxation of a one-dimensional bonded fluid is presented. The simulation shows that the model possesses many of the qualitative properties of the glass-forming liquids. The linear response function exhibits nonexponential relaxation, and it can be fitted quite accurately with the Kohlrausch-Williams-Watts expression. The average relaxation time has a non-Arrhenius temperature dependence. Simulations of temperature jumps have also been performed, and we find that in some cases the relaxation of the model is not monotonic.es
