Abstract: The occurrence of multiple steady states in a system formed by monomers adsorbed on a lattice, with attractive interaction between nearest adatoms, is demonstrated. This fact causes hysteresis in the adsorption-desorption or desorption-readsorption processes. On the other hand, the coordination number of the adsorbent lattice and the corresponding degree of nonlinearity of the rate equation do not essentially influence the results obtained.
