Cultura Hip-Hop al descubierto: la verdad tras el micrófono, las zapatillas y los vinilos

Abstract

Hip hop culture is a worldwide movement whose origins date back to the late sixties in the United States. Despite years of existence and expansion, this culture is still an unknown and considered as a “dangerous” movement. In his home country, the United States, research, publications and various events (eg conferences, lectures) have made easier the understanding of this cultural movement, turning some of its artistic trends into millionaires business. Unfortunately, this is not the case in many places, such as Spain. In this country the Hip hop culture is still a complete unknown to many of its inhabitants; ignorance makes many artists face great problems for developing their projects or are forced to leave the country to continue their careers. Stereotypes and wrong ideas about this culture make this situation even worse. Documentary pieces were born in order to facilitate an eff ective approach and improve the understanding of Hip hop culture in Spain. These audiovisual works help to understand the main message of Hip hop culture, that is, self-improvement and peaceful coexistence through the practice of their artistic tendencies. We propose an approach to the message to promote the right understanding of a culture which is usually underestimated and misunderstood by many people.
