Notas sobre la mezquita mayor de la Sevilla almohade

Abstract

La mezquita mayor de Sevilla fue construida entre los años 1172 y 1198, siendo consagrada como catedral en 1248; el edificio musulmán empezó a ser destruido en 1433, a medidaque se iba construyendo la catedral gótica, pero se salvaron del derribo dos lados del patio y latorre. En este artículo presentamos el estado actual de ciento dieciocho años de investigaciones,que se hicieron sistemáticas a partir de 1992, integrando excavaciones arqueológicas tradicionales, estudios de paramentos, fotogrametrías, nuevas traducciones de los textos árabes y recopilación de documentos e imágenes fechados desde el siglo XIII hasta nuestros días

The main mosque of Seville was built between the years 1172 and 1198, and inaugurated as cathedral in 1248. This muslim building was destructed in 1433, as the new cathedral was built. But only two sides of the court, and the tower were saved from the demolition. With this paper we want to present the actual state of 118 years of investigations (researches), which becames methodical since 1992, integrating traditional archeological excavations, studies about dressing, photogrammetry, new translations of the arabic texts and compilations of documents and dated images from the 13th century till our days
