Conjeturas acerca de la caverna como arquitectura

Abstract

El río Guadiaro es un paso natural que ha sido utilizado históricamente como conexión entre el Estrecho de Gibraltar y el interior peninsular, a través de la Serranía de Ronda. La línea de ferrocarril Bobadilla-Algeciras realizada por la Algeciras-Gibraltar Railway Cia entre los años 1890-1892, aprovechando el cauce del río, estableció una conexión que llegó a tener una dimensión internacional ya que puso a ciudades como Ronda, Algeciras o Tánger, al alcance de viajeros procedentes de Europa. En el entorno de la Sierra de Líbar, abiertas en las laderas orientales que se asoman al Guadiaro, y en las proximidades de la localidad de Benaoján, se sitúan dos de las más importantes cuevas prehistóricas del sur de la Península Ibérica como son las cuevas de La Pileta y El Gato. Estas cuevas fueron escenarios de una serie de exploraciones e investigaciones de las que ha quedado un rico conjunto de imágenes y textos que van desde la pintura paisajista del romanticismo decimonónico andaluz, a los primeros estudios del arte parietal prehistórico, la paleontología y la ingeniería hidráulica, entre otros. De la mano de M. Barrón, H.Breuil, H. Obermaier, W. Verner, J. Cabré, J. Bullón, etc., es posible descubrir un patrimonio exquisito que se suma al propio valor de las cuevas y el paisaje serrano. La trascendencia que tuvieron estos trabajos en el arte y la cultura contemporánea, al descubrirse que la huella dejada por los humanos primitivos no estaba tan lejos de los asuntos que agitaban la modernidad, son expuestos en algunas conexiones habidas entre las obras de Breuil, Le Corbusier y el escritor George Bataille

The Guadiaro River is a natural crossing that throughout history has been used as a connection between the Strait of Gibraltar and the interior of the Iberian Peninsula, through the Ronda mountain range. The railway line Bobadilla-Algeciras, built by the Algeciras-Gibraltar Railway Cia between 1890 and 1892, taking advantage of the riverbed, established a connection that went on to have an international scope, since it made cities such as Ronda, Algeciras, or Tangier accessible to travellers coming from Europe. In the surroundings of the Líbar mountain range, opening on the Eastern mountainside near the town of Benaoján are two of the most important prehistoric caves in the South of the Iberian Peninsula, La Pileta and El Gato caves. These caves were the settings of a series of explorations and researches of which a rich combination of pictures and texts has remained, ranging from the landscape paintings of the Andalusian nineteenth-century Romanticism to the first studies on the prehistoric parietal art, palaeontology and hydraulic engineering, among others. Through M. Barrón, H. Breuil, H. Obermaier, W. Verner, J. Cabré, J. Bullón, etc., it is possible to discover an exquisite heritage adding to the value of the caves and the mountain landscape. The importance that these works had on the art and on the contemporary culture, since it was discovered that the trace left by the primitive humans was not too far away from the affairs that shook the modernity, is exposed on several connections found among the works by Breuil, Le Corbusier, and writer George Bataille.
