Rafael Blas Rodríguez: nuevas aportaciones a su catálogo pictórico

Abstract

En el presente artículo ofrecemos nuevas aportaciones a la obra de Rafael Blas Rodríguez (1885-1961), uno de los más prolíficos pintores sevillanos de la primera mitad del siglo XX. Su variado y numeroso catálogo se ve aumentado con ocho pinturas inéditas conservadas en iglesias y colecciones particulares de Sevilla. Se trata de ocho óleos, siete sobre lienzo y uno sobre tabla. Los dos primeros, de asunto profano, son vistas urbanas de la ciudad hispalense; los cuatro siguientes, de temática religiosa, representan un boceto de un cuadro de Ánimas y la pintura definitiva, una enternecedora escena de Jesús y los niños y otra de su Pasión; y los dos restantes pertenecen al género floral. Con ello contribuimos al conocimiento del quehacer plástico de uno de los artistas más singulares de la escuela pictórica sevillana de la pasada centuria.

In this article we offer new contributions to work of painter Rafael Blas Rodríguez (1885-1961), one of the most prolific Sevillian painters of the early and half twentieth century. Eight unpublished paintings, preserved in churches and private collections in Seville are added to his varied and extensive catalogue. Seven of them are oil on canvas and other is oil on wood. The first two, profane, are city sights of Seville; the next four are religious and represent a sketch of a painting of Souls and the final painting, a touching scene of Jesus and the children and another of his Passion; and the remaining two are floral. With this article we contribute to the work of art of one of the most singular painters from Sevillian School in the last century.
