Captura de Petromyzon marinus L. en las marismas del Guadalquivir

Abstract

lnformation on the capture of two sea lampreys, Petromyzon marinus, in the marshlands of Los Palacios (Sevilla) (a zone until now not known to be occupied by them) on March 22nd 1973 is provided here. Data on biometry of one of the specimens could show that our population differs from those of North Europe. The channel of the marshlands where they were caught (Canal de los Portugueses) is 2 m. width and 3 m. maximum depth aproximately. We caught another four specimens in the marshlands of Aznalcázar (Sevilla) on September 7th,1973, in an advanced state of decomposition. They probably died due to pesticides contamination on August 1973, right when the death of birds at the marshlands was registered. We also present some data provided by lcona (Sevilla) on the places prefered for reproduction in the Ribera de Huelva River.
