La regeneración y la habitabilidad en paisajes urbanos vernaculares. El caso de Valparaiso.

Abstract

La ciudad de Valparaíso es examinada desde la complejidad de sus formas, actividades, y significados. La aplicación del enfoque de sistemas complejos como herramienta de análisis urbano abre horizontes epistemológicos al diseño y estructuración del espacio urbano y a la forma en que pensamos y gestionamos ciudades con el fin de lograr ciudades más humanas, inclusivas y sustentables. Se establece la relación entre forma y habitar y las configuraciones específicas que acontecen de su relación como criterio de base de una regeneración integral de barrios, para lograr posibilidades constructivas de un lugar desde sus naturales condicionantes territoriales y morfológicas, así como en el sentido y dirección progresiva que las transformaciones sociales y culturales van adquiriendo y tomando en el lugar Las intervenciones en regeneración urbana barrial deben incorporar en su gestión, aquellos factores esenciales que constituyen el verdadero patrimonio de una ciudad. En Valparaíso, las tramas de habitabilidad constituyen el verdadero patrimonio que se debe considerar en toda estrategia de regeneración urbana barrial. Mediante observación, entrevistas e imágenes se consigue identificar formas y modos de habitar. Los hallazgos evidencian distinciones definidas por elementos culturales vernaculares entrelazados en una trama de múltiples modos y formas de vida diaria donde la subsistencia, la informalidad, la creatividad se funden para componer un paisaje que da lecciones de regeneración urbana barrial integral.

The city of Valparaiso is examined from the complexity of its forms, activities, and meanings. The application of the complex systems approach as an urban analysis tool opens epistemological horizons to the design and structuring of urban space and to the way we think and manage cities in order to achieve more humane, inclusive and sustainable cities. This work establishes the relationship between form and habit and the specific configurations that happen from their relationship as a basic criterion of an integral regeneration of neighborhoods, to achieve constructive possibilities of a place from its natural territorial and morphological determinants, as well as in the sense and direction Progressive that social and cultural transformations are acquiring and taking in the place. The interventions in urban regeneration in the neighborhood must incorporate in their management, those essential factors that constitute the true heritage of a city. In Valparaíso the vernacular frames of habitability are the true city heritage and it must be considered in any strategy of neighborhood´s urban regeneration. Through observation, interviews and images, we can identify ways and ways of living. Mainly, the findings show distinctions defined by vernacular cultural elements intertwined in a multi-mode and daily life form where subsistence, informality and creativity are combined to compose a landscape that gives lessons of an integral neighborhood urban regeneration
