El tabú de la menarquía desde la perspectiva de género en salud

Abstract

El objetivo de la investigación fue analizar si la menarquía actualmente representa un tabú en mujeres españolas. Estudio cualitativo, cuyo diseño fue la Teoría Fundamentada, realizado en Sevilla (España), con 43 mujeres de medio rural y urbano de diferentes generaciones jóvenes (18-25 años, 26-35 años), mediana edad (36-45 años, 46-55 años, 56-65 años) y ancianas (> 65 años). Se utilizaron como técnica obtención de datos la entrevista semi-estructurada y 3 grupos de discusión. Se realizaron entre marzo de 2008 y diciembre de 2011. Los discursos fueron sometidos al análisis de contenido. Como resultado principal señalar que aún hoy en nuestro medio sigue existiendo el tabú de la menarquia, por lo que es necesario desde Atención Primaria elaborar programas de Educación para la Salud sobre este tema.

The aim of this research was to analyze whether menarche is currently taboo in Spanish women. A qualitative study, whose design was Grounded Theory, was performed in Seville (Spain), with 43 women of rural and urban of different generations (18-25 years, 26-35 years), middle age (36- 45 years, 46 -55 years, 56-65 years) and elderly (> 65 years). 24 semistructured interviews and 3 focus groups were used as a data collection tecnique. They were conducted between March 2008 and December 2011. The answers were subjected to content analysis and significant differences were found between the discourses of the different generations The main result to note that even today in our environment remains taboo at menarche, so it is necessary to develop programs from Primary Care Education for Health on this issue.
