Comunicación de riesgo y crisis en la prensa digital desde el tratamiento informativo: Un estudio del incendio en el mayor depósito de combustible en Cuba en los medios Cubadebate y Cibercuba

Abstract

La presente investigación tiene como tema de estudio la comunicación de riesgo y crisis en la prensa digital desde el tratamiento informativo, para lo que se centra en el caso del incendio en el mayor depósito de combustible en Cuba en los medios Cubadebate y Cibercuba. Tiene como objetivo analizar el tratamiento informativo que dos diarios digitales con ideologías opuestas realizaron durante el siniestro en la Base de Supertanqueros de Matanzas del 5 al 25 de agosto de 2022, un incendio de grandes proporciones que se convirtió en uno de los acontecimientos más estremecedores del siglo en el contexto cubano, acaparando titulares de medios nacionales e internacionales. El estudio se enfocó en la identificación de las características del tratamiento informativo del incendio en los medios digitales analizados, la presencia de elementos de la comunicación de riesgo y crisis en la cobertura del incendio, y la comparación del tratamiento informativo de ambos medios de prensa. Para ello se realizó un diseño metodológico de tipo cuantitativo y cualitativo, centrado en el análisis de contenido y del discurso como métodos que permitieron: localizar los puntos temporales de mayor y menor relevancia mediática del incendio, identificar las figuras y temáticas que más protagonismo adquirieron en la cobertura, así como puntualizar en las estrategias discursivas de ambas coberturas periodísticas. Asimismo, los resultados de este estudio pueden ser de gran utilidad para mejorar la comunicación de riesgo y crisis en la prensa digital y, con ello, mejorar la prevención y manejo de desastres en el futuro.

The subject of this research is the communication of risk and crisis in the digital press from the information treatment, for which it focuses on the case of the fire in the largest fuel depot in Cuba in the Cubadebate and Cibercuba media. Its objective is to analyze the information treatment that two digital newspapers with opposing ideologies carried out during the incident at the Matanzas Supertanker Base from August 5 to 25, 2022, a fire of large proportions that became one of the most shocking events of the century in the Cuban context, grabbing headlines in national and international media. The study focused on the identification of the characteristics of the information treatment of the fire in the digital media analyzed, the presence of elements of risk and crisis communication in the coverage of the fire, and the comparison of the information treatment of both press media. For this purpose, a quantitative and qualitative methodological design was carried out, focused on content and discourse analysis as methods that allowed: locating the time points of greatest and least media relevance of the fire, identifying the figures and themes that acquired the most prominence in the coverage, as well as specifying the discursive strategies and message lines of both journalistic coverage. Also, the results of this study can be very useful to improve risk and crisis communication in the digital press and, thereby, improve disaster prevention and management in the future.
