dc.description.abstract | Dynamic Line Rating (DLR), also known in some instances as real-time thermal rating , is becoming a key component of modern energy management systems for transmission system operators (TSOs) or independent system operators (ISOs) to use transmission assets more efficiently while maintaining current reliability standards. However, the need for this tool will be even more overwhelming in a decarbonized future, given the foreseeable line congestion originating from the coincidence of several factors: 1) significant growth of the share of intermittent renewables; 2) the further electrification of the residential, transportation, and industrial energy demand; and 3) increasing difficulties and costs for the construction of new transmission assets. | es |
