La industria fantasma. Análisis de la Fábrica de Harinas y Tejidos de Yute. Peñaflor 1878-1924-2023

Abstract

Where is history when only exits sketches of what existed remain? From this question arises the interest of carrying out a search and recognition of the industrial remains that were previously booming and today are in disuse, they are ruins or there is no trace of their existence. All this through a route that delimits the scope of action through the Sevillian railways, going up the two branches to the north of Seville. It delves into the Peñaflor jute flour and fabric factory, being of vital importance the study of its location, including the infrastructures attached to it, the mill, the river, the dam and the train tracks. Said factory functioned as an industrial complex with different buildings with which it was complemented, of which the relationships between them will be made, and its variant architecture will be analyzed over the years. In order to understand the operation of this factory, the flour-making methods of the time are investigated, obtaining conclusions that help to understand the structure of the complex. Planimetrics of its three phases will be raised, understanding the passage of time over them, a slow time and with innumerable incidents, delving into 1878 with its opening, in 1926 after the fire and, currently, totally in ruins. Finally, it will conclude with the reasons why this industry is no longer in operation and what it implies in the territory, coming to consider a value enhancement.

¿Dónde queda la historia cuando solo quedan esbozos de lo que existió? De esta cuestión surge el interés de realizar una búsqueda y reconocimiento de los restos industriales que anteriormente estuvieron en auge y hoy en día se encuentran en desuso, son ruinas o no queda huella de su existencia. Todo ello a través de un recorrido que acota el ámbito de actuación mediante las vías ferroviarias sevillanas, subiendo por los dos ramales hacia el norte de Sevilla. Se profundiza en la Fábrica de harinas y tejidos de yute de Peñaflor, siendo de vital importancia el estudio de su emplazamiento, inclusive las infraestructuras anexas a él, la aceña, el río, la presa y las vías del tren. Dicha fábrica funcionaba como un complejo industrial con distintas edificaciones con las cuales se complementaba, de las que realizarán las relaciones entre ellas, y se analizará su arquitectura variante en los años. Para entender el funcionamiento de dicha fábrica, se indaga sobre los métodos harineros de la época, obteniendo conclusiones que ayuden a entender la estructura del complejo. Se levantarán planimetrías de sus tres fases entendiendo el paso del tiempo sobre ellas, un tiempo pausado y con innumerables incidencias, adentrándonos en 1878 con su apertura, en 1926 tras el incendio y, en la actualidad, totalmente en ruinas. Finalmente, se concluirá con las razones por las que ya no siguen en funcionamiento esta industria y qué implica en el territorio, llegando a plantearse una puesta en valor.
