Frontières de la représentation et « théâtre impossible »

Abstract

Le présent article se centre sur la figure de Federico García Lorca et concrètement sur son drame posthume El público (Le public) appartenant à son théâtre expérimental, appelé couramment « théâtre impossible » dû à son caractère « irreprésentable ». Le caractère métathéâtral de ce drame le rend particulièrement intéressant pour explorer les « frontières de la représentation » à partir du jeu avec le masque et la rupture des paradigmes habituels.

This article concentrates on the figure of Federico Garcia Lorca and more directly on his posthumous play El público (The public), which belongs to his experimental plays, often called his "impossible plays", because of the difficulty to stage them. The metatheatrical quality of the play makes it particularly interesting when it comes to exploring the limits of the representation in connection with the use of masks and the transgression of usual paradigms.
