Abstract

El retrato fotográfico es un género que integra una amplia gama de procesos artísticos que convergen en la captura de las cualidades físicas y mentales de los sujetos fotografiados. Este género, asociado con el pasado y la memoria, tiene como propósito esencial la trascendencia del momento capturado, permitiendo su perpetuidad en el tiempo. Esta función del cerebro, la memoria, pese a ser la encargada de conectar los recuerdos, puede verse afectada por el paso del tiempo provocando la enfermedad comúnmente conocida como el “mal olvido”, la demencia senil, la cual afecta negativamente el rendimiento cognitivo de la persona afectada obstaculizando su vida cotidiana. Es en este contexto donde la fotografía adquiere una vez más relevancia, ya que, como se señaló en la cita inicial, si bien no puede evitar los contratiempos inherentes a la naturaleza humana, sí tiene la capacidad de exhibirlos ante el mundo.
