Abstract

European citizens have been the subject of a promise. The European Parliament has expressed its commitment to achieve climate neutrality before the year 2050. In order to reach this ambitious goal, it is essential to establish a solid foundation in the field of waste shipment, embracing the entire cycle from its origin to its final destination, and thus closing the full circle of the economy. However, it is concerning to observe that member states continue transfering large volumes of waste with a low percentage of recycled materials. The main objective of this study is to analyze in detail the recent policies adopted by Europe in terms od waste shipment, going deep into their origins and evaluating their influence in the current context.
