Climas cálidos: Viajes de arquitectura y aprendizaje entre tiempos y cultura

Abstract

Tomando como argumento los viajes alrededor del mundo que en los años sesenta del pasado siglo realizaron Fernando Távora y tres arquitectos de la recién inaugurada Escuela de Arquitectura de Sevilla se recuerda, en obras de otros tiempos y otras civilizaciones, la manera en la que la arquitectura fue sensible con el medioambiente, su capacidad de integración con las formas naturales del territorio o la búsqueda de soluciones pasivas para protegerse de las condiciones climáticas extremas en países de clima cálido, húmedo o seco. El texto tiene por objetivo incitar a la investigación sobre soluciones que estén basadas en invariables tipológicos-constructivos, en la armonía entre artificio y naturaleza y en la lectura de las realidades climáticas, sociales y culturales como algunas de las respuestas que desde la arquitectura se ofrecen para afrontar los problemas del cambio climático, ayudando al objetivo de una sociedad basada en criterios eficientes y sostenibles. Los artículos que dan continuidad a este texto pueden entenderse como primeras líneas de esta investigación colectiva.

Based on the journeys around the world taken by Fernando Távora and three architects of the recently opened School of Architecture of Seville in the 1960s, the way in which architecture was sensitive to the environment, its capacity for integration with the natural forms of the land, and the search for passive solutions for protection from extreme weather conditions in countries with a warm, humid or dry climate in works from other times and other civilisations are recalled. The text has the objective of encouraging research on solutions based on construction typology constants, in harmony between craftsmanship and nature, and in interpretation of climate, social and cultural realities as some of the responses that architecture offers to face the problems of climate change, contributing to the objective of a society based on efficient and sustainable criteria. The articles which give continuity to this text may be understood as the first lines of this collective research.
