Encuentros figurados entre la tierra y el cielo

Abstract

Este número de PpA, dedicado al encuentro de la arquitectura con su plano de apoyo, reúne una serie de artículos y reseñas bibliográficas que confirman el predominio de las cualidades significantes de la arquitectura en su contacto con la Tierra frente a las puramente sustentantes, ampliando con ello el alcance de las acciones llevadas a cabo sobre la superficie terrestre, desde la técnica a la figuración. Desde las construcciones primitivas de raíz mítica hasta las arquitecturas domésticas de los maestros del siglo XX, pasando por operaciones urbanas y precisas intervenciones de carácter experimental, la capacidad de trascender el reto de transmitir el peso a la masa terrestre para evocar valores relacionados con el espacio y el lugar ha sido una constante que ha generado hallazgos formales de tal fuerza figurativa que se han decantado como tipos arquitectónicos recurrentes, incluso cuando el contacto con la tierra no es el principal argumento del proyecto.

This issue of PpA is dedicated to the encounter between architecture and its support plane. It brings together a series of articles and bibliographical reviews that confirm the predominance of the significant qualities of architecture in its contact with the Earth as opposed to those that are purely supportive, thus broadening the scope of the actions carried out on the Earth’s surface, from technique to figuration. From primitive constructions with mythical roots, to the domestic architectures of the 20th century masters, passing through urban operations and precise interventions of an experimental nature—the capacity to transcend the challenge of transmitting weight to the earth’s mass to evoke values related to space and place has been a constant that has produced formal findings of such a figurative force that they have become recurrent architectural types, even when contact with the earth is not the main focus of the project.
