Evolución de los tratamientos del cáncer en China

Abstract

El cáncer es una enfermedad que azota a China con la carga del envejecimiento y la contaminación. La Medicina Tradicional China aporta otra visión y posibilidades en la curación, y Occidente apenas ha empezado a tomarla en cuenta. En este estudio, primero se establece el contexto histórico del cáncer desde los documentos antiguos chinos, la llegada de la medicina moderna y su posterior expansión a China. Después, se investiga los principales métodos de tratamientos para luchar contra el cáncer en China, tanto los occidentales como los que ofrece su medicina milenaria. Por último, se explican las ventajas que poseen los tratamientos chinos y las medidas políticas hechas en el país ante los factores de peligro que la potencian. Para llevar a cabo la investigación se ha seleccionado una serie de bibliografías que ayudan a ahondar en el tema. De la recopilación se destacan dos lecturas principales: el libro de Ty. M. Bolliger (2016). The Truth about Cancer: What You Need to Know about Cancer's History, Treatment, and Prevention, y el artículo de Sun et al. (2020) “Cancer burden in China: trends, risk factors and prevention”. A través de estas obras, sumado con el resto, se revelarán los entresijos que ha traído la enfermedad entre el siglo pasado y el actual.

Cancer is a disease that plagues China with the burden of aging and pollution. Traditional Chinese Medicine provides another vision and possibilities in healing, and the West has only just begun to take it into account. In this study, the historical context of cancer is first established from ancient Chinese documents, the arrival of modern medicine, and its subsequent spread to China. Then, the main methods of treatment to fight cancer in China are investigated, both Western and those that offer their ancient medicine. Finally, the advantages of Chinese treatments and the political measures carried out in the country in the face of the danger factors that enhance it are explained. To carry out the research, a series of bibliographies have been selected that help to deepen into the subject. Two main readings stand out from the compilation: Ty's book. M. Bolliger (2016). The Truth about Cancer: What You Need to Know about Cancer's History, Treatment, and Prevention, and the article by Sun et al. (2020). “Cancer Burden in China: Trends, Risk Factors, and Prevention.” Through these works, added to the rest, the ins and outs that the disease has contracted between the last century and the current one will be revealed.
