¿El patriarcado ya no existe?

Abstract

El término patriarcado es un concepto clave en el repertorio filosófico feminista. En las siguientes páginas intentaremos realizar un recorrido por las distintas posturas filosóficas que presentan varias autoras feministas sobre la pertinencia o no de continuar expresando las desigualdades de hombres y mujeres a través del término patriarcado. Para ello veremos cómo se ha definido el término desde su origen en los textos sociológicos y cómo se ha venido explicando en la literatura feminista desde los años 70 del siglo XX. Posteriormente, veremos también varios ejemplos de autoras que están en contra de seguir afirmando que vivimos en una sociedad patriarcal en el mundo occidental y haremos hincapié en la importancia de poder redefinir y mejorar los conceptos que ordenan el conocimiento de nuestro mundo. Veremos también qué tipo de disputa nos encontramos cuando hablamos de la existencia o no de la sociedad patriarcal y si esta disputa puede ser entendida como una negociación metalingüística. Finalmente, intentaremos responder a la pregunta de si seguimos viviendo en una sociedad patriarcal y dar una definición al término patriarcado.

The term patriarchy is a key concept in the feminist philosophical repertoire. In the following pages we will try to take a tour of the different philosophical positions presented by several feminist authors on the relevance or not of continuing to express the inequalities of men and women through the term patriarchy. For this, we will see how the term has been defined since its origin in sociological texts and how it has been explained in feminist literature since the 70s of the 20th century. Later, we will also see several examples of authors who are against continuing to affirm that we live in a patriarchal society in the Western world and we will emphasize the importance of being able to redefine and improve the concepts that order the knowledge of our world. We will also see what kind of dispute we encounter when we talk about the existence or not of patriarchal society and if this dispute can be understood as a metalinguistic negotiation. Finally, we will try to answer the question of whether we still live in a patriarchal society and give a definition to the term patriarchy.
