Zygmunt Bauman: Posmodernidad, Ética y Derechos Humanos

Abstract

La posmodernidad es la etapa histórica en la que se encuentra el ser humano en la actualidad. Hacer referencia a esta época no se trata solo de remitir a los acontecimientos que marcaron la última cuarta parte del siglo pasado, sino también al pensamiento que se empieza a gestar como respuesta a todas aquellas ideas de la modernidad que no consiguieron satisfacer nuestra comprensión del mundo. Desde Bauman, se analizarán las características de las sociedades posmodernas y, a partir de ahí, la ética que se concibe en este momento. El concepto central del trabajo es la responsabilidad, cuyo estudio implicará la referencia a otros filósofos posmodernos de corrientes fenomenológicas, hermenéuticas y analíticas, con el fin de esclarecer el verdadero sentido ético de este término en la actualidad. Por otra parte, la cuestión de los derechos humanos servirá para cerrar el asunto ético, así como para comprobar cuan alejados están realmente los fundamentos posmodernos con respecto a los modernos.

Postmodernism is the historical stage in which at present, human beings find themselves. To refer to this period is not only to refer to the events that marked the last quarter of the last century, but also to the thought that is beginning to grow as a response to all those ideas of modernity that failed to satisfy our understanding of the world. From Bauman, we will analyse the characteristics of post-modern societies and, from that point, the ethics that are conceived at this time. The central concept of the work is responsibility, the study of which will involve reference to other postmodern philosophers of phenomenological, hermeneutic and analytical currents, in order to clarify the true ethical meaning of this term today. On the other hand, the question of human rights will serve to close the ethical issue, as well as to verify how far the postmodern basis really are from the modern ones.
