Un análisis de la movilidad laboral basado en la Muestra Continua de Vidas Laborales

Abstract

El presente Trabajo de Fin de Máster propone un análisis de la movilidad laboral en el mercado de trabajo español. Empleando microdatos de la Muestra Continua de Vidas Laborales para los años 2019 y 2020, tratamos de identificar los patrones de movilidad de los trabajadores dados de alta en la Seguridad Social en dichos años. En concreto, estamos interesados en conocer las secuencias de cambios que se producen, a nivel de actividad económica, de grupo de ocupación y de provincia, cuando el trabajador cambia de empleo. La herramienta metodológica empleada ha sido la tabla de contingencia, la cual permite tabular el cruce de categorías dos variables nominales. En nuestro caso, dichas variables serán la actividad, la ocupación o la provincia del empleo actual (filas de la tabla) y del empleo anterior (columnas de la tabla); dichas movilidades serán analizadas por separado. A partir de dicha tabla, obtenemos unos mapas de calor (heatmap) que miden el grado de asociación entre las diferentes categorías de las variables analizadas. Las filas y columnas del heatmap se ordenan siguiendo una metodología de cluster jerárquico. Nuestro estudio ofrece resultados interesantes, ya que muestra aquellas movilidades laborales con un mayor grado de asociación y describe dichas movilidades en términos del individuo y del puesto que ocupa.

This Master's thesis proposes an analysis of labor mobility in the Spanish labor market. Using microdata from the Continuous Sample of Working Lives for the years 2019 and 2020, we try to identify the mobility patterns of workers registered with the Social Security in those years. Specifically, we are interested in knowing the sequences of changes that occur occupation group and province at the level of economic activity when the worker changes employment. The methodological tool used was the contingency table, which allows us to tabulate the crossing of categories and two nominal variables. In our case, these variables will be the activity, occupation or province of the current job (rows of the table) and of the previous job (columns of the table); these mobilities will be analyzed separately. From this table, we obtain heatmaps that measure the degree of association between the different categories of the analyzed variables. The rows and columns of the heatmap are ordered following a hierarchical cluster methodology. Our study provides interesting results, as it shows those labor mobilities with a higher degree of association and describes these mobilities in terms of the individual and the position held.
