dc.description.abstract | The objective of this work is the characterization of an Ultra Thin Ply (UTP) carbon-epoxy fiber
composite material using different grammages for the determination of its properties, being their
grammages 100 g/m2, 50 g/m2 and 30 g/m2.
The characterization process consists of three parts. First, a mechanical analysis of the material will be
carried out by means of tensile testing of 0° and 90° unidirectional laminates using a universal testing machine,
with the aim of determining the values of Xt, Yt, E11, E22 and v12 for each grammage. Second, by means of a
thermal analysis, the coefficients of expansion α1 and α2 of each grammage will be obtained, as well as the
coefficient α3 of the 100 g/m2 prepreg. The main objective of these two parts is to observe whether the use of
different grammages can significantly affect the thermo-mechanical properties obtained during the tests.
Finally, in order to see the influence of the curing stresses induced at these materials and their effect over time,
laminates [04/904] of 100 and 30 g/m2 will be evaluated by sampling photographs to understand the effect of
these stresses, taking as reference the variations in height and curvature that they suffer due to their own natural
relaxation. Moreover, these variations will be related to the percentage of real cooling that would be equivalent
to that instant in order to evaluate the possibility of use a percentage of the value of the real cooling in the
calculations after a certain time, being able to determine the residual stresses for each moment.
This work is divided into two main parts: on the one hand, the manufacturing process, from the
preparation of the laminates by manual cutting and stacking, subsequent autoclave curing and preparation of the
specimens; and on the other hand, the performance and analysis of the objectives set, showing the procedure
followed, the calculations developed and the conclusions drawn. | es |
