El valor de la memoria de un legado familiar

Abstract

Le damos muchísima importancia a la memoria de grandes figuras y su legado, pero solo se han convertido en perpetuos recuerdos porque no se ha roto la cadena de conocimiento de esos recuerdos. Todos y cada uno de los individuos que recuerdan esos acontecimientos y personajes, ayudan a que no caiga en el olvido. ¿Qué diferencia hay con el legado de nuestros abuelos? Esas cajas llenas de objetos impregnados en recuerdos que solo unos pocos tienen el privilegio de conocer y cuando dichas personas se desvanecen, esas memorias desaparecen y se convierten en meros desechos capitalistas. ¿Por qué no le damos importancia? ¿Por qué valoramos en grandes cantidades enseres de figuras históricas, bienes de uso cotidiano que han usado esas figuras, simplemente porque les han pertenecido, pero no valoramos el patrimonio inmaterial, el legado que nuestros propios antepasados nos dejan generación tras generación? La banalización del arte y el patrimonio por culpa del capitalismo y el menosprecio del pasado más humilde, o del patrimonio familiar anónimo propio de cada individuo es una muestra de cómo durante generaciones se ha degradado este valor para ensalzar solo el patrimonio de los ilustres. Las memorias de nuestros ancianos terminan en vertederos y contenedores, a la espera de ser quemados y reducidos a cenizas, siendo borrados de la historia como si surgiera una necesidad de olvidarlos rápidamente. Recordamos y estudiamos eventos históricos de la humanidad, pero no le damos importancia a la historia próxima de nuestras familias. Nunca debemos olvidar de dónde venimos, el legado que nos dejan nuestros antepasados es algo a atesorar y convertir en patrimonio familiar documentado, no olvidando en ningún momento la historia de los bienes memorables de su legado. Estos bienes pueden no tener valor económico, pero tener un valor histórico y de memoria familiar importante para el núcleo familiar, que si no es debidamente documentado se convertiría en simple desecho que en el momento en el que todos los individuos que conocen su historia fallecen, se pierde. ¿Qué es el patrimonio si no objetos que cuentan la historia de los muertos? ¿Qué es el arte si no son imágenes congeladas en el tiempo? Escenas de un sueño, recuerdo o deseo de una persona en algún momento de la historia.

We give great importance to the memory of great figures and their legacy, but they have only become perpetual memories because the chain of knowledge of those memories has not been broken. Every one of the individuals who remember these events and characters help to keep them from falling into oblivion. What difference is there with the legacy of our grandparents? Those boxes full of objects impregnated in memories that only a few have the privilege to know and when these people fade, those memories disappear and become mere capitalist waste. Why don't we give it importance? Why do we highly value paintings of historical figures, everyday goods that have been used by those figures, simply because they belong to them, but do we not value intangible heritage, the legacy that our ancestors leave us generation after generation? The trivialization of art and heritage due to capitalism and the contempt for the family heritage of everyone is an example of how for generations the value of the heritage of humble families has been degraded and the heritage of the illustrious has been extolled. The memories of our elders end up in landfills and containers, waiting to be burned and reduced to ashes, being erased from history as if those people had no value to perdure in history. We remember and study historical events of humanity, but we do not give importance to the future history of our families. We must never forget where we come from, the legacy left by our ancestors is something to treasure and turn into documented family heritage, never forgetting the history of the memorable assets of their legacy. These assets may not have an economic value but have an important historical and memory value for the family nucleus, which if not properly documented would become simple trash that at the moment in which all the individuals who know their history die, is lost. What is heritage if not things that tell the story of the dead? What is art if not images frozen in time? Scenes from a dream, memory or desire of a person at some point in history.
