Patología isquémica y salud bucodental

Abstract

El presente Trabajo Fin de Grado tiene como objetivo fundamental realizar una revisión bibliográfica de la literatura reciente sobre la relación entre patología isquémica y la salud bucodental. Material y Método: Se ha realizado una revisión bibliográfica en base de datos PubMed Pubmed, Scopus y Google Académico incluyendo aquellos artículos escritos en inglés y español, estudios realizados en humanos, y limitado a los últimos 10 años con acceso al texto completo. Resultados Se seleccionaron 14 artículos. Conclusiones: Existen factores de riesgo que son comunes a la enfermedad periodontal y patología cardiovascular entre los que destacan el tabaquismo, la diabetes mellitus e hipertensión. El tratamiento periodontal tiene un gran impacto sobre los eventos cardiovasculares, y al disminuir ciertas bacterias periodontopatógenas, disminuye el riesgo de un suceso cardiovascular. La periodontitis está directamente relacionada con la patología isquémica, sin embargo, la relación causal entre infarto y enfermedad periodontal siguen sin establecerse y es por ello por lo que son necesarios más estudios en el futuro.

The main objective of this Final Degree Project is to carry out a bibliographic review of the recent literature on the relationship between ischemic pathology and oral health. Material and Method: A bibliographic review has been carried out in the PubMed Pubmed, Scopus and Google Academic databases, including those articles written in English and Spanish, studies carried out in humans, and limited to the last 10 years with access to the full text. Results 14 articles were selected. Conclusions: There are risk factors that are common to periodontal disease and cardiovascular disease, among which smoking, diabetes mellitus and hypertension stand out. Periodontal treatment has a great impact on cardiovascular events, and by reducing certain periodontal pathogenic bacteria, the risk of a cardiovascular event decreases. Periodontitis is directly related to ischemic pathology, however, the causal relationship between infarction and periodontal disease remains to be established and that is why more studies are necessary in the future.
