dc.description.abstract | Nowday and thanks to new technologies, a warehouse has become more than just a place to store merchandise
by workers on foot waiting for it to be transported to another place. Now warehouses are complex facilities,
with intelligent machinery that must carry out programmed functions and that need to be part of the product
flow, carrying out from the receipt of products to delivery to the end customers, all of this by performing
advanced controls of different type.
This together with the desire of current companies which require great precision in all product handling,
eliminating errors as far as possible and with advanced time and stock level controls, it has been achieved that
the only way to carry it out outside the implantation of automated warehouses. These warehouses manage the
movement and storage of products in a programmed and automated way, with the need for few operators and
achieving a much lower level of errors and therefore exceptional merchandise security.
The economy is an area of the company that improves after the introduction of an automated warehouse due
to, among other reasons, the use of space, optimizing the use of the available surface, adapting to each place
and each type of product to be stored. Productivity is also taken advantage of since these warehouses can work
at any time and at a higher speed than the rest. Finally, a better labor cost economy is achieved because
operators who previously worked in the storage of products can now dedicate themselves to other tasks.
In this project it will be possible to observe how an automated warehouse has been implemented that achieves
a receipt of products, a storage of them and a shipment to the end customers in a completely automated way. It
has been possible to create a picking system that meets the requirements of each client, being able to send
different types of products to different locations, taking control of them and the plants as a whole. | es |
