La religión política en Voegelin

Abstract

Voegelin hace, en base a una concepción concreta de lo que es la ciencia política, un análisis del fenómeno de las religiones políticas, las cuales, como ideologías, se constituyen en claves de una inmanentización del escathon típicamente moderna. Dijo que la el germen esencial de las religiones políticas reside en la premisa gnóstica de que el hombre puede procurarse, con sus propias fuerzas, su salvación. Este escrito se propone dirigirle una crítica a Voegelin, no por la orientación de su pensamiento (evidentemente conservadora), sino por su insuficiencia de radicalidad. Queremos llevar su filosofía hasta el final, y para ello tendremos que destacar otro aspecto esencial del gnosticismo sobre el que él tanto tematiza y que no tiene muy en cuenta: el desprecio de la corporalidad.

On the basis of a certain conception of what political science must be, Voegelin does an analysis of the political religions phenomenon. Political religions, insofar as they are ideologies, undertake a typically modern immanentization of the escathon. He said the main reason of the outburst of political religions consists of the gnostic principle that man can attain his salvation with his own capacities. This essay aims to have a critical look at his thought, not because of its direction (manifestly conservative), but because we are compelled to consider that he has not been radical enough. We will endeavor to carry his philosophy until its last consequences, and in order to that we will highlight another crucial feature of Gnosticism that Voegelin did not take into account: the contempt for the bodily.
